Why We Study Labor & Employement
Most of us spend more than half of our lives at work. Our employment (work) is also linked to wages and resources (e.g., health insurance) needed for our (and our families') health, wealth, and well-being.
Our mission is:
-
To understand and address how work shapes the health and well-being of individuals and their families.
-
To empower, validate, and advocate for workers by promoting work environments where all individuals can thrive professionally and personally.
-
To advance occupational justice and equity through research, advocacy, and engagement.
Strategic Priorities

Occupational Health Research
Expanding the evidence base on the links between work conditions and health outcomes

Policy Advocacy
Engaging with policymakers to improve the lives of workers

Community Engagement
Building partnerships with worker advocacy groups and communities
