PRObiotics for Nurses’ Health
(PRO Nurse Health) Study
About
Work can be a great source of stress. And this is true for many nurses. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the healthcare system, many nurses had reported increased stress, burnout, depression, anxiety, and psychological distress. Stress, however, affects more than mental health.

The purpose of this study was to learn more about whether probiotics can help with stress responses among nurses, especially chronic stress felt in the body and mind. Evaluating whether probiotic supplements could modulate stress responses in nurses could potentially help us create more robust stress reduction programs using supplements for nurses during stressful times.
